The GPYC has four Hobie Waves and a Hobie Getaway that can be used by GPYC members and their families for family sailing, youth sailing, and adult learn to sail. Any youth under the age of 18 must be supervised either by their parents, or by GPYC advisors at sanctioned youth sailing days.
The Hobies are in Slots 36, 37, 38 and 39.
The Hobies are easy to rig and sail, and are fast and exciting in fresh breeze. You are encouraged to use them while the weather is warm since you will get wet getting the boats on and off the water. The Hobie Waves are the entry level boats, and the Hobie Getaway is one step up in performance. There is no need to reserve a club boat – just head out to the lake and start sailing!
When you first use the boats you will need to be checked out by the fleet manager or one of the fleet advisors listed below. You will be given instructions for set-up and tear-down of the GPYC boats. After you are cleared to sail club boats, text the fleet manager when you take a boat out and when you bring it back in, and with questions or if any problems come up. If the fleet manager is not available, you can contact one of the fleet advisors listed below.
